Founded in May 1992, with the reformation of the 549th Engineering Regiment of the 9th Knin Corps of the JNA.

The regiment was filled with men from the entire zone of responsibility of the 2nd Krajina Corps, and heavily from Drvar, Petrovac and Kljuc.
