In the period from 1944 to 1992, 156 types of coins and 80 types of commemorative metal coins were minted. For almost the entire period, the forging of smaller denominations had been practically unified.
On the first post-war coins of 1945 there was the coat of arms of the Democratic Federative Yugoslavia (DFY). From 1945 to 1963, the state was named FNRY. The name of the state was changed to SFRY in 1963. Coins of 50 para 1974, as well as 2 dinars 1975, were minted in a smaller amount compared to the previous and later series.
